NYRA Hikes NY-Bred Purses...from NYBreds.com: Registered NY-bred
became even more valuable with NYRA's announcement about new
purse levels for Belmont and Saratoga (see “NYRA Unveils Massive
Purse Increases”). What the press release left out is the news you need to
know:
how much will NY-breds run for?  Here’s the breakdown for the
Belmont spring meet:

  • NY-bred maidens running short will run for $55K; for those running
long, the purse will be $60K.

  • When stepping up to NY-bred allowance company, sprinters will
run for purses of $57K; distance horses will be running for a share
    of a $62K purse.

Saratoga runners will aim for even richer pots:

  • Sprint maidens will run for $60K, while distance races for maidens
will have a purse of $65K.

  • NY-bred allowance sprinter will go for a $62K purse, while
distance allowance races for NY-breds will have a purse of $67K.

  • Open-company races are even richer, and if owners take down a
share of those open purses they can be rewarded with an owner’s
    award of up to $20,000.
